In Loving Memory of Chuck Painter
For many years, when people thought of the Men’s Retreat on Oahu, they thought of Chuck Painter. Chuck was more than just a familiar face at our gatherings — he was the heartbeat, the spark, and the spirit that brought so many of us together.
Though small in stature, Chuck packed a punch in every sense of the word. He had a way of commanding a room, not with volume or force, but with a quiet strength, a twinkle in his eye, and a sincerity that made you feel truly seen. His laughter could fill a hall, his encouragement could lift the heaviest of burdens, and his wisdom had a way of sticking with you long after the retreat was over.
Chuck wasn’t just a leader — he was a friend, a mentor, and an example of how one person can embody resilience, humility, and joy. He showed us that true strength isn’t measured in size but in spirit, and his spirit was larger than life.
The Men’s Retreat will never be quite the same without him, but his presence will always echo in our memories, our prayers and our shared stories. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the traditions he helped shape, and the brotherhood he helped foster.
His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the traditions he helped shape, and the brotherhood he helped foster. For all he gave and for all he was, we are forever grateful.
Rest in peace, Chuck. Your light continues to guide us.
